Killearn Knitting Retreat - inc brioche knitting | Killearn Village Hall | 星期六, 31. 八月 2019

Escape the stress of the city and come join us in the idyllic Scottish countryside just 30 minutes from Glasgow for a whole day to CALM. CONNECT. CREATE. A knitting retreat with options for complete beginners or those looking to try something new.
The kids are back to school, the buzz of summer is quieting.
It's time.
It's time you had some time for you.
....and sometimes to really unwind and feel the benefits it's good to change our environment, to get away, to ESCAPE!....escape the ironing the to do list....to not be reminded the garden fence is still not painted (it has been raining a lot!!!)
So let's escape to the countryside.
As knitters or would be knitters we deserve to be pampered. To relax in sumptuous surroundings & eat yummy food. To try something new or just enjoy the mindful relaxation of a whole day to knit while looking out the big windows of the garden room at the rolling green Scottish countryside over the Glebe to Loch Lomond and the animals grazing outside. Go outside, take a wander, breathe in the air, it's your day.

Knitting Projects (please see full details of events & pictures of projects by clicking the following link).  You can buy through website or eventbrite.  Website offers Bring your own yarn ticket option too.

Choose from 3 neckwear projects that are perfect for this time of year when it is getting cooler but we are not quite ready for winter woollies yet. The recommended yarn for the project is Rowan Denim Revive which is a luxury eco cotton brand of recycled denim in a range of beautiful and soft muted shades. Those who wish to use this yarn please review the below link from the Orry Mill as to the colours available so that I can bring these along on the day. Please let me know on your ticket booking form - you do not need to buy from the Orry Mill directly.

Click the above link and then press Rowan Denim Revive.
Project 1 Beginner - "Kelp" - suitable for complete beginners this textured scarf will give you lots of practise casting on, which is the single biggest complaint I get from beginners ("I can't cast on", "Can you cast on for me", I can't remember how to cast on"!!). You can complete the whole piece in garter stitch or you can combine garter stitch and stocking stitch as in the picture.
Project 2 Intermediate - "Wave" - you need to be confident in knit & purl stitch and this project introduces an introductory one colour brioche stitch. A great way to start out on the brioche trend that is happening right now. This gives a light, very textured fabric and we can create a very easy undulating shape with a simple stitch combination which really works well as a long skinny scarf.
Project 3 Advanced - "Dune" - for those looking for a challenge and who would like to try two colour brioche knitting, as this is very popular right now. Recommended for intermediate+ knitters (remember that the objective of the day is stress reduction!!!). Choose two colours and given the technique is more complicated, the design is a basic scarf shape.
Bring Your Own Yarn Option - you need two 50g ***** of double knitting yarn or aran weight to complete this project and so you are welcome to bring your own if you have some in your stash you would like to use. Just pick the appropriate ticket above.
Needles
Please bring 4mm (or those suggested for your yarn if you are bringing your own) straight (you could also use circular but we will be working back & forth) knitting needles with you on the day or message me if you would like to buy some on the day and I will organise.
If you are knitting project 3 you will need either a pair of 4mm (30cm long) double pointed needles or circular needles.
